"A Bachelor's Tale of Woe"
I once was a man that was wise,
who filled his beloved with
promise and lies.
When she asked for my love to be
true,
by a symbol that people could
view,
I panicked and said, "I'd rather
be dead!"
(Clearly not using my head)
I saw this ring as a yoke for my
neck,
wide open for the hen to peck.
My goal was to play with a "hoe
and a fiddle,"
which now in the fields, I do
hoe a little.
She saw my excuses as feeble and
lame,
and put an end to my selfish
game.
"Engage my left hand, after five
years I demand,
or I'll choose my next suitor
and you'll be canned!
From Nice Ice you should buy my
rock,
for the prices are reasonable,
and you shall not balk."
I pleaded and said, "I have no
money, not even a dime,
if you love me, you'll give me
more time."
She screamed, "You knave, you
swine,
with me you shall not dire.
Your money was for play and not
my betrothal day,
for this you shall pay!"
Hindsight is quite perfect, one
must agree.
She wanted a ring, that said "I
love thee."
So this is my life, a fool
without a wife.
Woe as me, and woe as me, an old
fool without a wife.
The moral of this story is: It's
cheaper to keep her... Buy her the ring!
