Knife Edge Solitaires with Six Prong Tulip Style Head: This is our knife edge solitaire style engagement ring pictured in platinum with a 1.50 carat round brilliant ideal cut diamond. In answer to your next question, "Yes, our knife edge solitaire is extremely similar to the one that you're probably thinking about" however our comes wrapped in a Tuxedo Style Black Box with a white ribbon instead of Baby Blue... Click on the thumbnail images above to view the full size pictures which show our knife edge solitaire style engagement ring from various vantage points both with and without a diamond... We make it in a variety of sizes to accommodate round brilliant cut diamonds from a half carat and larger... The ring shank measures approximately 2.5 mm at the top of the ring where it connects to the head and tapers gradually down to about 2.0 mm near the bottom of the ring with minor variance to be expected due to the polishing process. The prong configuration is only available as a six prong unit, it is not available as a four prong unit at this time. Production time is approximately 7 to 14 working days although we are trying to keep more and more of them in-stock so contact us for availability. The average cost for a platinum engagement ring to hold up to a one carat size center stone is [ Call for price ] depending on the platinum price of the day with larger sizes cost slightly more. Figure about [ Call for price ] for the ring built with an 18k yellow gold shank (ring portion) and the platinum tulip style head for diamonds up to one carat and about [ Call for price ] for something in the range of two carats... Diamonds purchased from us will be mounted in this ring without additional charge. Diamonds not purchased from our company may be set for an additional fee, however we reserve the right to refuse to set any diamond which we feel poses a risk during the setting process such as those which contain inclusions which we feel present any sort of durability risk. Matching Knife Edge Style Wedding Bands We offer matching wedding bands for our Knife Edge Solitaire available in two variations, straight and slightly curved at the top... The traditional ring is straight and starts at [ Call for price ] in platinum (based on a finger size of six with larger sizes costing slightly more). However it should be noted that the rounded lower section of the head configuration causes the ring to stand out from the top of the ring ever so slightly... We think that it looks fine, but if you're expecting the two rings to sit flush on your finger you might be disappointed and we certainly want to avoid that... Likewise, any straight edge diamond anniversary or eternity rings will not sit flush with the knife edge style solitaire or just about any other style of solitaire ring due to design constraints. Yes, we've seen the rings which set the head up on top of the ring shank so that another straight edge ring can be placed next to them, but they look kind of dorky and put the diamond pretty high up on the finger (just our opinion, you're certainly entitled to yours)... The solution for this dilemma is a matching wedding ring which is slightly curved outwards at the top of the ring so that it flows around the head on the solitaire, we have designed one of these rings and it is available with an average production time frame of 7 to 14 days starting at [ Call for price ] in platinum and although we haven't designed it yet, we could probably figure out how to widen it a bit and run some diamonds down the center of it if that's what you want... We strongly recommend purchasing both rings at the same time to ensure a proper fit against each other but we can get "close enough" down the road if we have to by using a solitaire of the same size as yours as the base model for the second ring. Tapered Shank Variation with Tulip Head... By popular demand, we have produced a
version of our Knife Edge Solitaire that incorporates the same style
head and a ring shank that is rounded on the outer edge with flat
sides... Think of the letter "D" and you'll have a reference as to
how the ring shank looks, the edge is straight when viewed from straight
on, but the outer curve is rounded ever so slightly... We haven't
come up with a name for this ring style yet, so for the moment it is
simply the ring with the Tulip Head and Tapered Shank with a Slightly
Rounded Edge... The head configuration
is the same as pictured on the traditional knife edge style solitaire
featured above. The ring is available
in 950 Platinum, all 18k white gold, or a combination of an 18k yellow gold
shank with a platinum crown. Here is an example of the ring in
platinum, note that the diamond doesn't look quite right in the setting
because the diamond was not actually set in the ring at the time these
photographs were taken, we will replace the pictures as soon as we set
one of these puppies and have time to get it under the camera before the
Fed Ex guy comes... The rings were just completed and we added
these pictures to this page quickly just to show off the design. The diamond actually sits in the setting just as it does as
pictured with the traditional knife edge setting in the pictures
above... The variation with the tulip head and tapered shank
starts at [ Call for price ] in platinum for up to a one carat size stone with
larger sizes costing slightly more, based on a finger size up to 6.5
with larger sizes costing slightly more. * All styles are available in 14k and 18k white or yellow gold and 950 Platinum. Prices are estimates only, actual prices will be based upon the cost of platinum on the day that the ring is ordered. Prices are subject to change without notice.
