EightStar is a brand name of diamond that is marketed by the EightStar Diamond Company located in Sonoma, California. We think that EightStar produces an absolutely fabulous diamond with a high degree of light return and dispersion... Every EightStar diamond that we have had the privilege to evaluate has been an absolute prismatic wonder and we gave serious consideration to representing them... Unfortunately EightStar Diamond Company does not want their diamonds sold openly on the internet and thus we decided not to sell EightStar Diamonds given our large internet presence. According to the manufacturer, the facets of an EightStar diamond are carefully aligned and shaped to maximize light return, similar to the way that our Hearts & Arrows diamonds are manufactured. The retail selling price of EightStar diamonds tends to be higher than that of most of the Hearts & Arrows or Ideal Cut Diamonds that we see in the market because of the amount of time that goes into the production of each diamond... We had the opportunity to see part of an EightStar diamond cut and the cutting process is quite intriguing... We have considered selling EightStar Diamonds on several occasions but elected not to do so because we could not justify the increased price given the fact that we were unable to see a distinguishable difference between EightStar Diamonds and Japanese A-Grade Hearts & Arrows Diamonds of comparable quality that were in our inventory at the time... We are told that the difference in light return between an EightStar Diamond and a Hearts & Arrows diamond is about 1% in the favor of EightStar, however it is not a difference that our human eyes were able to detect... Through a FireScope the EightStar exhibited just a little less light leakage... Most Hearts & Arrows diamonds will leak a little light around the edges of the diamond along the tips of the arrows... The reality however is that the amount of light leakage that occurs in "tighter" ideal cut diamonds and most Hearts & Arrows diamonds is minimal enough that it can not be detected with human eyes... Just the same, if you would like to see an EightStar Diamond or are interested in purchasing an EightStar Diamond we recommend contacting the EightStar Diamond Company for a referral to a dealer in your area. EightStar produces a fabulous diamond that is certainly worthy of serious consideration... We tip our hats to their efforts and to the skill by which EightStar produces such a well crafted diamond!
