The
pattern of eight hearts that can be seen through the bottom side of some
exceptionally cut round brilliant ideal cut diamonds is the result of precise
alignment and shaping of the bezel main or kite shape facets on the top side of
the diamond. For the eight hearts to be visible in a crisp and complete
pattern, the crown and pavilion angles of the diamond must also be carefully
crafted to precise tolerances. Not all round brilliant cut diamonds
exhibit a crisp and complete hearts pattern, in fact many do not exhibit a
pattern of hearts at all... For more information on this phenomena enter
